Overall description

The RAISE Lab offers non-funded internships and visiting researcher positions to university students, Ph.D. candidates, and post-docs. As such, it represents an ideal venue for highly motivated individuals with independent mobility funding who wish to collaborate on research topics of mutual interest.

Research activity description

Interns and academic visitors will carry out research activity within the RAISE lab at the Department of Computer science of Sapienza University of Rome, Italy with the supervision or collaboration of Prof. Toni Mancini and Prof. Enrico Tronci.

The envisioned research is aimed at developing novel general-purpose simulation-based Artificial Intelligence–guided methods and software, and at applying them to the areas of interest of the RAISE Lab.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Command in complex software design and development of large applications in high-level programming languages
  • Good knowledge of mathematics, both discrete and continuous
  • Good knowledge of algorithms, data structures, operating systems (both theoretical and practical, including Linux proficiency), database design and manipulation
  • Knowledge in model-based as well as data-driven artificial intelligence (symbolic AI and machine learning) is a plus
  • Fluency in the Italian or the English language, both written and spoken
  • Strong interest in interdisciplinary research
  • Good communication skills

We are especially looking for technically strong candidates, with expertise in core technical computer science, not just the application of data science or machine learning methods via the use of third-party frameworks.
